According to previously credible sources, Professor Michael Doran, who taught a class I took in college on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, is Bush's likely pick to head up the National Security Council's Israel-Palestine desk. If that's true, I think he will do a fantastic job. As a teacher, he was unfailingly fair and even-handed in presenting issues, extremely sharp in his insights, and always attentive to practical realities. If anyone can handle the intricacies of the Mideast peace process for the NSC, he's the man to do it.
